Police say a Twin Lake man broke into a woman's mobile home last week, pulled out a clump of her hair, punched her in the face and stole two couch cushions before leaving.

The alleged assault occurred around 9:30 a.m. when O'Toole showed up at her mobile home and broke down the door, according to police reports.

Once inside, O'Toole began "screaming at her," pulled out a clump of her hair and punched her in the eye, the report said.

He later grabbed a knife from the kitchen and began "waving the knife toward her and pointed it at her chest," the report said.

The victim said she was able to escape the mobile home and ran around a vehicle parked outside to avoid him.

A neighbor who heard the victim screaming "came to her aid," at which point O'Toole left, taking with him two couch cushions belonging to the victim, the report said.

Who's leading the conversation?
This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

"When a deputy caught up with O’Toole at his residence, he denied being at the woman’s home. O’Toole smelled like alcohol at the time and told the deputy he had been drinking the night before, the report said."

I don't remember doing that, yeah, this is one strange dude. The assault is one thing, brandishing a weapon, but it is the theft of the couch cushions that I don't get at all. Wierd people out there.

I hadn't thought of that, that may turn out to be the case. People don't understand how hard it is to build a nice fort now adays. (Thanks for the laugh)

No doubt he knew he was in trouble with the law and needed something to cushion the impact of the legal proceedings.

Not to detract from what I am sure was a frightening event for the victim. But...this is a weird one. I want to thank TR for seeding the article and James Devore and H2 for making me laugh in what has been a tough news week. I think the world would be a better place if kids made forts out of couch cushions and blankets like we used to, instead of being holed up in their rooms playing 1st person shooter games at the tender age of 7, 8 etc..

No problem, I try to keep mostly to funny / odd news, interesting stuff as a break from the constant political back and forth. Don't get me wrong I enjoy the other stuff (and sometimes even post one), I hear / learn of things that I wouldn't find out about otherwise, but there are plenty of people who post that stuff everyday.

Off topic rant.

I agree about making forts, heck the kids just need to get outside everyday, hike, bike, trike, skate, pogo stick, just walk. See the world around you, move around, any type of activity other than sitting in front of the video console or TV. This is for you adults too, if you have kids go out with them and toss the football, baseball, nerf ball, ice skate, or just walk around, gives you time to talk, I am sure there is something your kids want to talk about to you or you to them. If you don't have kids, just go out and do something see lists above, if you don't stay active, one day you won't be able to be active anymore, and you will wish you had spent more time with your kids, your family, outdoors walking or doing something. Get a metal detector, ride a bike, say hi to your neighbors, walk in the park, birdwatch, look at the flowers, something. GET OUTSIDE EVERYDAY, there is a great big world out there and it is much better (and sometimes worse) than what you are being fed in the fantasy world on tv. End rant.

Nan I live up in the mountains of Colorado. It has warmed up to the mid-30's this morning and I still go out. A little cold every now and then is good for you, what if you had an emergency and had to go out in it, better to be prepared by having done it a time or two. I am not suggesting you go out in a blizzard or anything, just try to spend at least a little time outside most days, it is a beautiful world we live in. Just be sure to dress appropriately (layers) if it is cold out. :)
